Welcome!
Hello! We are Garrett and Sydney Johnson, your Chi Alpha missionaries to Boston.
Our Mission is to love God, to love others & carry out the Great Commission.
We are full-time missionaries with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries. We just finished up our last semester serving with Arkansas Tech University and we are on the pioneering Chi Alpha staff team in Boston, Massachusetts! This website is to update you on our journey, prayer needs, testimonies, and a place where you can be a part of what God is doing in Boston.
We both went to college at ATU where we met each other & met Jesus. Garrett started full-time with Chi Alpha in 2018 and I shortly followed in 2019. We are passionate about discipleship because we see in God’s Word that discipleship is how Jesus changed the world. Because of how Jesus changed our lives in college, we in turn committed to make disciples among the college campus. College is such a pivotal time in a person’s life and these students will be the future leaders of tomorrow. We want to love people and be like Jesus and let the love of Jesus change their lives.
What is Chi Alpha?
We’re a network of Christian ministries that look a little bit different on every campus – but here’s what you’re always sure to find: college-age men and women who are at once wrestling to become who they are (through school or work or life experience), and to connect with God. You’ll probably find people who are in all kinds of stages of both pursuits: self-discovery and God-discovery. Our movement of campus ministries finds its identity in this passage. We believe that God longs to have each and every person be reconciled to Himself, and that the way that re-connection happens is through the representation of his people. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador – or christou apostoloi in Greek, which we shorten to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha” or XA. Our name is our constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in this world. We each can carry Him within us to bring Him closer to the people around us.
“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”
2 Corinthians 5:20
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you."
— Matthew 28:19-20
